The words unspoken

     It was a beautiful day. She was sitting on her favourite bench in the park, her eyes musing on the stunning butterfly. The scented breeze gently ruffled her hair, as she felt it's subtle touch against her skin. There is something so deliciously different about today, she thought. Or was it just because love had seized her heart and captivated her soul? What  is it that they say,  "Love is in the air"? Oh yes, she was in love, deeply, unconditionally, all the way, attached to him. She smiled to herself, shyly.

     It was about 2 years ago that she met him. His thought itself, flooded her mind with myriad of memories they had together. He had changed her life, and maybe her too, a little bit. They talked like best friends, argued like married couples and cared like family. It was all too perfect when they were together, its definitely meant to be, she thought. And today was the day she would let him know what he really meant to her, or should she wait for some more time? She lost the track of time in an attempt to solve this dilemma. It was 5 already, she glanced at the entrance. He met her at this very place, this very time, everyday before they headed together for their class. But   today, she was shaking with nervousness, although she was perfectly sure that he would reciprocate her feelings. Be calm, she reassured herself and then suddenly she heard a deafening cry out of nowhere. Something felt terribly wrong. Her heart skipped a beat as she rushed outside the park, trying to battle the scary images her mind kept throwing at her.

     She reached outside to find a crowd gathered around something that wasn't quite visible to her. "I don't think he will make it, the car was speeding badly", she heard one of them say.  She didn't want to have a closer look. But then she saw something even worse than a nightmare. All her dreams, all her wishes, her entire life came crashing down like an avalanche. The person she couldn't spend a moment without, lay motionless in front of her. She felt herself go numb as she crashed down on the floor beside him. She saw his right hand clutching a pink sheet. As she retrieved that pink piece, warm tears ran down her cheeks but it was no match for the flames that erupted in her heart. A teardrop  glistened on the note and beside it were the words "I guess I'm in love with my best friend. Will you be mine forever?".

Hindi film music - Where are we heading?!?

         It was a scorching sunny afternoon and I was returning home sandwiched in a crowded bus. Just like every other day, I quickly plugged in my earphones to escape the commotion of the situation. The shuffled playlist went on to play some latest bollywood songs for sometime until something suddenly dawned on me. All I was listening to, was some senseless set of words floating on random stimulating tune laced by an excessively digitally processed voice. That was the first moment I realised that Bollywood music, that was once a rage with its impeccable melody, is somehow losing its charm with every passing day.

         Formerly, say, during the pre-modern times, music was associated with some mathematical and theoretical application of harmonics and their arrangements. Later, with time, the focus shifted on making it more appealing to listen to, and so, the innovations continued, leading to the advent of melody. Indian music, that once, boasted about its out-of-the-world melody, today however is taking a turn for the worst. The crappy lyrics that intends to catch-up with the youth is deteriorating drastically. I mean, button of a shirt, saare falls, chewing gums......seriously, give me a break!

       "Exceptions confirm the rule", so I do agree some good music still exists (fortunately :P) but then, it's rare..! The tracks are beautiful many a times, but the biggest spoiler these days is the high use of technology to mend the voices which actually takes away the authenticity. With everyone keen on trying to sing a bit here and there, I highly doubt whether we are going to have someone even close to being as versatile as Sonu Nigam or as melodious as Lata Didi.

       Some may still choose to defend this crap  by saying that it's the need of the day, but these are strictly my personal views because music is something much more aesthetic that someone crooning random words that lack any meaning. It can be used to create an entire emotion but is rather being used just to stimulate us or create hype for a few days. It's high time we reflect over this and create something substantial or else it won't be surprising if people couldn't  take any more of it!

Music=Life

Hello friends :)

      I'm Mayuri Jadhav and this is my first blog post. So I guess I should begin with my prime objective in starting this blog, which is, quite simply, to let out my thoughts, views and outlooks pertaining to almost anything and everything going around in the corners of my mind. And ...when I speak of my mind, the first thing that has captivated it completely, is "music". Music, for me, is the what feelings sound like.

      Imagine you are sitting all alone by the window, the cool eventide breeze striking your face gently and some soothing melody playing in your ears, taking you down the memory lane; way too perfect to resist? Well, that's music, the assuager of loneliness, the embodiment of emotions and the drug for musicaholics like me...!

      They say, "People haven't always been there for me, but music always has". There are always times when you resort to that favourite tune of yours to drive away the blues, when a lyrically beautiful song touches the right nerve and makes you glad, a specific melody reminds you of some special memory that is close to your heart and, of course, an intense piece of music that conspires to bring out your emotional traits. That is the power of music, at times, it can fill your heart your with  boundless joy and, at some others, may even leave you engulfed by a storm of emotions because ,as Victor Hugo has quoted, “Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent”. So, it is indeed apt to say that without music, life would be a mistake!
